Senior Expert (m/f/d) – High-Performance Electric Motor Development

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Expert in the development of high-performance electric drives for industrial and automotive applications. In this role, you will be responsible for the pre-series and series development of high-speed electric motors, including both asynchronous and synchronous motors, operating at speeds of 30,000 to 40,000 RPM with power ratings ranging from 200 kW to 1 MW. You will serve as the central point of contact in the development of complete drive systems, which encompass motors, inverters, and software.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the conceptual design and development of high-speed electric motors, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
Conduct advanced simulations as well as FEM-calculations to predict motor behavior/performance and to analyze and optimize the electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical aspects of motor designs.
Coordinate and lead cross-functional/international teams to integrate motor designs with inverters and control software, ensuring seamless operation.

Manufacturing and Testing:

Oversee the manufacturing process, ensuring that the production of electric motors meets stringent quality and performance standards.
Plan and execute testing protocols for motor prototypes, including functional, thermal, and endurance testing.
Analyze test results, identify potential issues, and implement necessary design modifications to optimize motor performance.

Project Leadership:

Act as the technical lead for the development of high-performance electric drives, coordinating with other departments such as electronics, software, and mechanical design.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence within the team.
Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products.
Stay abreast of the latest advancements in electric motor technology, materials, and manufacturing techniques.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the performance, efficiency, and reliability of electric drive systems.

Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Extensive experience in the design and development of high-performance electric motors, particularly in high-speed applications.
Proficiency in simulation and design software such as MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS, and other relevant tools.
Solid understanding of simulations and calculations in E-motor design.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Fluency in English, German skills are a plus
