Senior Program Manager – Defense Industry (m/f/d)
Metal and Composite Mechanical Parts for Military Systems
Location: Willingness to be based in the Munich metropolitan area and travel as required for client meetings and on-site project oversight.
We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Program Manager to lead our client’s team in the engineering and production of mechanical parts for military vehicles and systems. This role is crucial for the growth and success of our client’s fastly growing defense sector, covering a range of military applications including armored vehicles, naval units, missile launch and air defense systems. The Program Manager will be based in Southern Germany, primarily in the Munich metropolitan area.
Key responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management: Lead and mentor a team of project managers, ensuring the successful execution of all projects.
- Project Oversight: Oversee the development, production, and delivery of mechanical modules for military systems, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
- Client Interaction: Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients in the defense sector, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Strategic Growth: Drive the growth of the defense division by identifying new business opportunities, developing and executing growth strategies and delivering technical support to the sales executives during the client acquisition process.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure all projects comply with relevant military standards and regulations, and that all products meet rigorous quality and safety requirements.
- Budget Management: Manage project budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions and adherence to financial targets.
- Reporting and Documentation: Provide regular updates to senior management, prepare detailed project reports, and maintain accurate records.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in project or program management within the aerospace and defense industry, specifically dealing with mechanical parts or complex mechatronics systems.
- Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent project management capabilities with a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and stakeholders.
- In-depth knowledge of military standards, regulations, and procurement processes.
- Proficiency in relevant project management tools and software.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in German is highly desirable.
